Many of you know that I have been on a cross country trip with my folks since July 3.
I have to be honest and admit that, before the trip started, I just wanted to hurry and get through it and get back to my husband and my home. I knew I was facing 28 days of car-rding, restaurants and hotels. Well, we have been through 11 states, three national parks, a cruise and part of Canada and I must tell you I’m enjoying every second. We have seen some BEAUTIFUL country and I’ve taken many pictures!!! I have also loved every second I’ve spent with my folks. I do miss my husband and grandbaby but wouldn’t trade this time with my parents for anything. It truly has been a trip of a lifetime!!
The trip started out a little slow as we were driving TO the scenery across the plains states – I now know, for certain, that I never want to live in Kansas (sorry Dee & Glen Singer). I didn’t think we would EVER reach anything worthy of picture-taking but when we DID finally reach the picturesque scenery – WOW!!!
We spent a day and a half in Yellowstone National Park where I had the thrill of capturing the likes of bison, elk, deer, and absolutely beautiful scenery!! If you haven’t been to Yellowstone you need to add it to your bucket list!!! It’s definitely worthy of a “do-over” and I will be returning some day!
The Grand Tetons were another MUST SEE!! How anyone could ever doubt there is a God when viewing such beauty is beyond me! I now understand the phrase”purple mountains’ majesty” in that beautiful patriotic song!!
From there, we made our way through Montana and Washington state to meet up with Ronnie and hop on the cruise to Alaska where the Booth Brothers were part of the entertainment for the week.
While in the port of Juneau, my dad and I signed up for the photo safari excursion and had the thrill of a lifetime when we went out to do some whale watching. Well, the Lord didn’t just give us whales, bald eagles and seals but He gave us BREACHING whales!!! What a thrill for a photographer – my only regret was that I didn’t have a stronger zoom on my lens…oh well, I still captured the moment!!
The cruise ended, Ronnie flew back home, and we began making our way back across the country. We plan to capture the Badlands National Park and Mount Rushmore before bringing this trip to an end. It has been a wonderful experience and am so thankful that I had this precious time with my parents. Will blog more soon…until then…
Ponder this passage of scripture as you view the scenes on this site:
Praise the Lord from the heavens;
Praise Him in the heights!
2 Praise Him, all His angels;
Praise Him, all His hosts!
3 Praise Him, sun and moon;
Praise Him, all you stars of light!
4 Praise Him, you heavens of heavens,
And you waters above the heavens!
5 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For He commanded and they were created.
6 He also established them forever and ever;
He made a decree which shall not pass away.
7 Praise the Lord from the earth,
You great sea creatures and all the depths;
8 Fire and hail, snow and clouds;
Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
9 Mountains and all hills;
Fruitful trees and all cedars;
10 Beasts and all cattle;
Creeping things and flying fowl;
11 Kings of the earth and all peoples;
Princes and all judges of the earth;
12 Both young men and maidens;
Old men and children.
13 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For His name alone is exalted;
His glory is above the earth and heaven.
14 And He has exalted the horn of His people,
The praise of all His saints—
Of the children of Israel,
A people near to Him.
Praise the Lord!
